Relationships and the Courtship
Remember the excitement and romance when your relationship was brand new and you never knew what was going to happen next? Life was full of wonderful surprises, both large and small. It seemed that Christmas was no longer limited to once a year. That's because the courtship period is a dizzying whirlwind of sweet discoveries and exhilarating adventures. But even while in the midst of this short, magical time, too often you hear people saying that the magic cannot possibly last, as they look into a not too distant future to a dreary, everyday kind of life with the person of their dreams! But one doesn't have to give up the magic without a fight! Of course, once the heart is won and life decisions have been made, a couple does enter into 'real life.' But real life can contain more than messages like, "don't forget to pick up the dry cleaning, take out the garbage, and get me another beer." Messages like that make it seem that marriage and romance have nothing to do with each other! If you've been leaving or receiving too many messages with grocery instructions, it may be time for a change! Without a little courting popping up every now and again, a relationship all too easily finds its way into a rut. The everyday can be fun for a while, but sooner or later, everyone finds themselves falling into the same old patterns. Either you always go to the movies, or you never go to the movies. You're always at home watching TV, or you never seem to have a moment just to be with each other. Running to work, picking up the kids, dinner on the run. All of that 'stuff' can leave you and your partner feeling unappreciated and even disconnected from each other. Courtship techniques can be very valuable in enabling a couple to maintain or rediscover the very special qualities of their own relationship. Eyes start to sparkle again. Being together becomes fun and alive. A little of those old courtship rituals can greatly enhance your relationship. It doesn't take a lot of time or money, just a little thought - and the rewards are tremendous! And the best part is you already know how to do it! All you have to do is brush off the old skills! So why settle for dreary? Take time out for magic and romance. All it takes is a little remembering, a bit of effort and the desire to please and enchant your significant other. (Remember desire?)
